One Room Challenge || Week 2 - Credenzas and other things
A week goes by faster than you think! But I have made good progress with my family room. If you are new and don't know what the One Room Challenge is it was started by Linda from Calling it Home
some years ago. In this challenge she lines up twenty talented interior designers and professional
bloggers to redo a room in their home in just six weeks- we update you once a week on
Wednesdays. And today is Wednesday! (in case you missed it here is last week's post where I introduce my plans. So, I have decided the type of credenza I want beneath our television. Oh and the TV is up. Let me show you-
So, we of course need a credenza or some kind of unit below the t.v. to place all the unsightly equipment. I started off thinking I really needed something like Jessica's piece like this. But since my entire kitchen is white and these rooms are really one shared space, I decided I needed to break it up a bit. I first thought of mirrored piece, which you all know I love from this post here. This piece was really cool and the type of thing I was looking for. And burl wood entered my mind as well. Something like this would be amazing but the price tag of anything burl is a bit prohibitive. And then, I spotted these beauties-
Tapered. Brass. Legs. If you don't read anything else in this post this is the main point- I found a place that makes and sells amazing legs for furniture and they make those brass legs!! It is called Ferrous Hardware. And you can get those beauties here (you need to scroll down a bit to "Dunbar". That is the name of this design). So, after finding these beauties my search for a credenza shifted because I now wanted to design my own piece so I could use those brass legs. So, I went to 1st Dibs, of course, and found those two beautiful black and brass pieces on which I based my design (one, two). Which will hopefully look something like this-
It will be painted in high gloss black with a brass border and brass triangles on the doors and the brass tapered legs, of course. I can't even wait another minute to see if my vision translates.
Also, the rug is in place. It is a Stark carpet we had from our first apartment. This is it-
It was an investment nine years ago but see? so worth it because we are still using it. It could almost be called vintage at this point.
The sofa should be coming soon and it is this one from Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams. We saw a whole bunch more before deciding on this one, but honestly I don't even remember what they were. They have a great selection of sectionals and are all really comfortable. I chose a dark grey fabric. I'm hoping this grey with the browns of the rug and the black and gold credenza look alright together....hmmmm. I'm a bit worried, but I think it should be fine.
Now, after finding Ferrous Hardware all their beautiful furniture legs all I want to do is design furniture and use all those cool legs they have. Your imagination can run wild, especially with such wonderful inspiration out there (ie Pinterest, 1st Dibs, and all your lovely blogs).
I love crossing things off my to-do's.
