One Room Challenge || Week Four - Playroom
Welcome to Week Four of the Fall 2018 One Room Challenge! If you missed Week One, Two and Three you can catch up here, here, and here. Week four pretty much means we have one more week to work because we also need enough time to take photos for the reveal! Oh, oh!!! The pressure is on for these next seven days. I still have quite more than just a few things to take care of! Including an accent wall that will be covered in wallpaper. The wallpaper should be arriving this week and I can’t really concentrate until it arrives. It is ALL I can think about. Today, I want to share with you some mood boards so you can get a sense for the furniture, art and decor that will make this space the prettiest and coolest playroom this side of Texas. The One Room Challenge Sponsors have been so generous. I can’t wait to show you all the prettiness-
The below mood board is an idea of what the TV area will look like. Last week I introduced you to these stunning Hudson Valley Lighting pendants. Well, I’m still so in love with them. My happiness level rises whenever I enter the room and see them! Yes, they are this beautiful! The scale, the shape is just perfect and adds a cool and elegant mood to the space. I wish I could invite you all over to hang out here. You will not want to leave! EVER! Additionally, we have this beautiful painting, which is currently at the framer, by talented local Dallas artist Katie Craig. I have a few of her pieces and could not love them more. We gave her a sense for the color palette and she created this beauty for us.
Last week I shared with you the details about this super comfortable and great quality sectional from Article. Well, this week I’m sharing all the pretty pillows that will go on this sofa to make it extra special. We have the pretty blush pillows from SWD Studio and the classic and beautiful blue Les Touches pillows and the cute lumbar with zebra trim from Arianna Belle. And, lastly we will be making pillows from this embroidered jewel of a fabric from Fabricut. All this adds up to a fabulous and comfortable TV watching space, right?

Below is an idea of what the work work area will look like. This space will be perfect for group projects and for massive study sessions. The main feature in this area will be an accent wall with a STUNNING wallpaper design that you will have never seen before! Why?! Well, this hydrangea wallpaper was designed by Jennifer from The Pink Pagoda and will be available soon on the Milton and King website. We are honored to be among the first to use one of her wallpaper designs from her upcoming wallpaper collection (oops....I hope I'm not letting the cat out of the bag!)....more on this special wallpaper next week! Exciting right?
This work area has a lower ceiling so we decided on this arch lamp from Lamps Plus to provide better study light. In the center we will have one of Jill Rosenwald’s fabulous ceramic creations (it will be the same shape as the one pictured below but with a different color and design. Go to my instagram stories to see our custom unique piece!). We are obsessed with her work and I would get a whole collection of her pieces if I could. I go to Boston often, so I will have to stop by her shop next summer. Mr. C, the owner of the house, is so in love with the Jill Rosenwald bowl. It is his favorite piece of the entire room (oh and he really likes the Emtek hardware too!) This makes me so happy. The photograph is one of mine from the Royal Palace in Madrid. Because of it’s architectural nature I thought it would be a fun contrast with the florals of the wallpaper. Also, the perfect chairs to surround this table are from Hayneedle. Finally! Wishbone chairs!

These are some of the accessories that will be around the room. Since the room palette is mainly blue and white, of course, I had to bring in blue and white accessories to make this space stand out and shine (twist my arm!). In my opinion, there is no better online source for blue and white accessories than The Pink Pagoda. Oh My Goodness! The variety Jennifer carries is so great that I felt like a kid in a candy store trying to decide what will look best in this playroom. Jennifer, the blue and white expert, has been so helpful and has been such a great resource in helping me think through my design. Also, The Pink Pagoda’s instagram is a #MustFollow because it is simply a feast for the eyes. I will be working on styling all these pieces this week.
I had to add some fun and vibrant pink to the room. We needed an element of surprise. Something that would contrast. Remember this is still a 10-year old’s space! It will be plenty pretty and sophisticated, but we needed a bit of punch. It was so fun looking through Minted’s options to find the perfect and fun pairing of art prints. And Voila!- the lemon print and the flower print. A likely or unlikely pairing? A fabulous and spirited duo if you ask me!
These beautiful Lamps Plus table lamps for the desk are sensational. A bookcase cannot be a bookcase without a stunning fuchsia orchid like this one from Shay Geyer. It has the prettiest mercury glass vase! And the size! Wait till you see how big it actually is. Would this even be a tween room if it did not have some faux fur in some way, shape or form? Of course not! So we added a few of these totally adorable ottomans from Homepop. Add a few simple gold accent tables and the prettiest hardware from Emtek and you just can’t go wrong!!!

Also, the lovely Stephanie from Fig House Vintage (their instagram is great way to stay up-to-date of her findings/offerings!) found the prettiest golden ballerina to decorate the bookcase for little Miss S. who is also a ballerina herself, so this piece will be extra special.
Thanks for stopping again this week! I will be sharing more on the wallpaper next week, so stay tuned! And thank you Linda for being the best host!
