Art || Josh Young

 I discovered Josh Young 's art through the wonderful world of Instagram.  In interior design I really like the contrast of antique/vintage pieces mixed with modern and minimal ones, so it is no wonder that I was immediately drawn to Josh's works. He is a Chicago-based artist and designer. Heavily influenced from his college years in Italy he came back to New York as a designer in the textile industry. He is " inspired by the fusion of old world elements married with bold, modern-day techniques".

The high-quality pieces are printed in his studio in NY and then they are individually hand-signed and hand-painted on top using a mixed media technique featuring vibrant acrylic and oil paints.  Let me show you a few.  And I love how they look in a collection-

Pretty unique right? You can buy them here.  Oh and he also sells fun decoupage plates.  I don't know why but I envision his works in a library- they look great surrounded by books. I have an old reproduction of a Gauguin painting and I was thinking I could add my own modern take on it as inspired by Josh Young's work.  I think it could look really cool.  Stay tuned!
