It's a Colorful Life Home Tour- Holiday Edition
Happy, Happy, Merry, Merry! It’s that wonderful time of the year! I cannot believe the Holidays are here and Christmas is just some weeks away. I love getting in the spirit during the Thanksgiving break to start decorating for Christmas, which is pretty much the same year to year. I might add or take away a few things here and there but I love the tradition of it all. I’m really excited to be a part of It’s a Colorful Life Home Tour - Holiday Edition this year. I’m so appreciative that Jennifer and Jewel included me in this festive blog hop. If you are coming from Home with a Twist Welcome! Today, I will be sharing some photos of my home with the little holiday details I have added around the house. Let me show you around-
This is my wooden Santa collection. It is one of my favorite groupings ever. They were all made by a very special friend of the family years ago. I’m always in the lookout to add more if I spot anything similar in style. Sadly, it has been near impossible. I will take good care of these so my daughter can have them later on.
You probably know my entry by heart by now but this is how I typically decorate this area. I changed the bows in the garland this year because they were looking old and tired so this time I added the gold and striped ribbon. Poinsettias are an easy way to add color and that festive holiday feel for not very much. I got these at Target!
Here stands our tree in the family room! Our tree is now 6 years old and we bought it from Balsam Hill. We have been very happy with it and love that it is pre-lit, probably my favorite feature. Since I was a little girl we have added bows to our tree, so of course, I do exactly the same. I keep the same bows for years and years, but like in our entry garland the bows were looking tired so I switched the look up slightly by adding these striped ribbons. Many of the ornaments are the same ones from when I was a little girl, which makes putting the tree up so special. Trimming the tree is like a walk down memory lane. Pretty much every ornament has a story. And, of course, we add a few new ones every year. I think I need this one and this one to commemorate 2020.
Here is a close-up of some of our ornaments. Our dear friends save the Christmas card we send them every year and each time they transform it into an ornament for us. What a special gift! We treasure these like gold!
I adore those gold trees I got at Target many years ago. I really love their modern look.
I decided to introduce our elder nutcracker to Frida and Dali. They are getting along swimmingly!
These pretty flowers were left over from Thanksgiving. The peonies are still sensational. This cute decoupage tray was made by another dear friend. I use it to put all the Christmas cards we receive.
Below is another decoupage dish my same friend made for me this year. She is so talented. Have you ever tried decoupage? I have and loved it. If you are at all curious I have a tutorial here. It is fun and they make special gifts.
We also have this little guy on the stairs. He makes me smile when I walk by.
Lastly, here is a side view of the tree. We don’t really put any ornaments in the back (you can kind of tell in this pic)…but this is a family secret (don’t tell).
I hope you all enjoyed my Christmas decor! And now go visit Kate Decorates to see what fabulous holiday decor she has on store for us.
