One Room Challenge || Week Two - Playroom
Welcome to Week Two of the Fall 2018 One Room Challenge! If you missed Week One you can catch up here. A huge thank you to Linda for inviting me to be a featured designer in this round. I’m kind of nervous at how fast time is moving but thankfully we got a lot accomplished this week. The theme for this week is CLEAN SLATE! We worked hard and did some major work that can only set this project up for success (hopefully!). To see the before photos please visit here.
We committed to a paint color (we all know how difficult and frightening this can be!!) after putting up more than just a few samples up on the wall. We wanted a light gray to cool the place down (bye, bye yellow!) and brighten it up. We also thought a light gray could perfectly complement our blue and white color scheme. The winning color was Benjamin Moore Graytint. I figured if it is good enough for Alex Papachristidis then I think I it should be good enough for us as well. We decided to paint walls and ceiling. And for the bar area we decided to go with a shade darker (Benjamin Moore Pelican Gray) and we added some sheen so it would stand out a bit.
Prepping to paint is such hard work! It has to get worse so it can get better right? The night is darkest before dawn.
A sea of doors-
Oh and we ripped out this black counter and green backsplash. Yes! We could finally start to breath.
After we painted we got rid of the old green and yellow rug and installed a new wall-to-wall. I can’t tell you how exciting this was! Please notice how lovely the new gray walls and bookcase are! It is feeling so much brighter already.
Also, the new white granite was installed in the bar area. We wanted something light, durable and easy to maintain. This is perfection! We need a pretty faucet now!
Here it is! Voila!! The Clean Slate-
Oh my goodness, this is what new paint and a new carpet will do! It creates a fresh and beautiful slate to make way for some amazing designing to occur!!
The real fun part comes after this- choosing furniture, light fixtures, wallpaper, fabrics. I will be sharing these selections in the following weeks. We have some wonderful sponsors who are helping transform this room into a really fabulous and special playroom. Some of these sponsors have gone above and beyond to be helpful and supportive of my project and for this I cannot be more grateful. I can’t wait to tell you all about them and how some of them have exceeded my expectations. A huge shout out to Linda for choosing such amazing sponsors.
And let’s see what we can cross off this list-
